Your beauty reality check comes from me,  Lisa Emmerton. I am a self-proclaimed makeup junkie who loves to babble about all things makeup! I am not alone in this obsession, and I certainly do not claim to be unique or to offer something revolutionary. There are a lot of beauty blogs out there, and mine is just…mine.

If Face the Day has a theme, it is about putting your best face forward in all that you do. I am particularly interested in wearing makeup in a way that is both fun and work appropriate. I am a PhD student, and am always on the lookout for “looks” that are fun and stylish without making me look ridiculous or inappropriate when I have to stand up and speak to undergrads.

That being said, if you’re looking for evaluations of red carpet beauty and insights into what’s sauntering down the high fashion runways, you likely won’t find it here. Don’t get me wrong, I sometimes peek in on that stuff, but I get bored with it. I’m more interested in how real women use makeup in their daily lives, and most of my discussion speaks to that interest.
